Altamont Motel

My car broke down in Altamont Illinois. I found a garage that could repair my vehicle. Across the street from the garage was the Altamont motel. Being that I had to wait a few days for the part. I inquired about lodging.The hostess Abby, was both accommodating and friendly. The manager Billy Jo and her husband were very helpful with finding my way around a strange town.The room was small but clean. I would rather stay here than a chain hotel anytime. The price is half what the chain motels.Again thumbs up to Abby and Billy Jo.

This place will always have a special place in my heart. Not bc it's extremely clean, fairly priced and within walking distance to essentials. Because of the man who runs it. We stumbled upon this place after a car crash on our way home. We were 8 hrs from home with 2 puppies and $40 and 2 days until pay day. We were stranded. But this angel of a man took more than amazing care of us. He cared for our pups..one which is now his and renewed our faith in humanity.

On our way home from across country road trip we unfortunately had a car accident. We were low on cash 8 hrs from home w 2 puppies and wouldn't have money to fix car for several days. The police officer dropped us off here. We deal t defeated until we meet the motel manager. He went out of his way to help accommodate us and even helped with the puppies. One of which he calls his own now. The room was amazingly clean. Cleaner than any other $40 night motel. We had called the motel up the road and the typical $40 night motel treatment was quickly received a man yelling demanding crazy prices in broken language with no care to listen and try to work with potential customers. With out this man the altamont would just be another cheap motel but with him This motel is much more and feels like home.

The gentleman who checked me in was very nice. My key card did not want to work and finally after 3 times he got it to work. The room was somewhat small but it came with a microwave and fridge which I wasn't expecting. The only complaints about the room is that there was now light in the shower and the hair dryer did not want to work. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would absolutely stay here again if I was in the area for anything.
